Head To Toe Berlin

Telling the Visual Story – Project 2

We went across the street from Bikini Berlin to the ruin of the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church built in the 1890’s.  An amazing example of German Belle Epoch, the church only lasted 40 years until it was bombed during WWII.  It now stands as a memorial to all those who died in that terrible war.  The modern building next to it is a functioning church with a massive pipe organ.  The students were assigned to photograph the outside and inside of the old church with its gold mosaic ceiling.  They then came back to the studio and created Mood Collages with color swatches for their personal response to this very moving subject.  Here are the results.
